The FLT kinases (FMS-like tyrosine kinases) have been demonstrated to be important in many stages of tumour development.
About FLT4
FLT4, also known as VEGFR-3) as well as being a driver in blood and lymph angiogenesis, controls the mobilisation of cancer cells, a key process involved in metastasis, the main cause of death in cancer patients. A drug inhibiting FLT4 should prevent tumour growth and spread, providing an invaluable therapy for the management of many cancer types.
Sareum have discovered potent and selective inhibitors of FLT4 which are currently being pursued in late stage lead optimisation.
